We’ve all been there when the neighbor or someone we know goes on and on about installing huge solar panels on his roof so he can use the sun as a source of power apart from the government trying to tap into solar power as a better way to provide electricity. The question is, is it really as good as they say it is?

What is solar power? In simple words – Solar energy refers to capturing the energy from the Sun and subsequently converting it into electricity.

Lets list out how this can be beneficial for us:

  • The attractive part of solar energy is that it is a clean and sustainable source of energy. It isn’t harmful to the environment and doesn’t leave a carbon footprint. You are saving what is left of mother nature.
  • Once you move to solar power, you are not dependent on the electricity department and their power cuts. The sun will keep providing the required energy to run your household. The moment you have solar panels up on your roof, you’ve technically reached an energy-independent status.
  • Since there are many of us switching to solar power, we are less likely to experience the dreaded power cuts. If your house has solar cells installed, it functions as a small power plant.
  • Your solar power system will start saving money from the moment it’s turned on, however, the advantages of solar power will be better visible in the long run. Longer you have your solar power system, the more you reap the benefits of solar power and support the environment. It’s in a way, directly proportional.
  • While solar panels use the energy from the sun to generate electricity, the other way is solar thermal panels which use the sun to heat up water. Many of the new generation are using solar power for this sole purpose and this as well helps reduce your carbon footprint and brings in a green and sustainable future.
