Some walls in your house need to be painted more frequently than others due to daily beating it takes. For example, if you only eat in your dining room a couple times a year during the weekends, you won’t need to paint the walls as regularly as those found in your kitchen, corridors, or bathroom.
- Living Room, Dining Room: If you used high-quality paint in these areas, you likely won’t need to repaint for quite a while. Even if you use your living room more often than your dining room, the high-quality, durable paint and room decor can often protect it from looking dull and wearing out. You will want to paint your house interior about every 5 to 7 years. This frequency generally does the trick to maintaining both of these rooms.
- Kitchen & Bathroom: Food splatters in the kitchen, near the stove. Messy finger prints on the walls. Moisture and wet walls in the bathroom. These factors and others require that kitchens, bathrooms should be repainted more often than dining and living rooms. Painters use the most durable, gloss paints on walls in these rooms to ensure the paint lasts as long as possible with the daily wear and tear. You will likely see that your kitchen and bathroom will need a fresh coat of paint about every 3 to 4 years, sometimes longer.
- Bedrooms: If you don’t have kids, you will notice that the paint in your bedrooms can last a long, long time. Because the other bedrooms are typically used less frequently, you may find that you won’t need to repaint the walls until you want to change the color! But kids’ bedrooms are an entirely different story as they are used for both sleep and play and see a lot of punishing. Painters often use an eggshell or satin sheen when repainting a child’s bedroom. This can ensure that paint will last much longer even when it has to be scrubbed down a lot of times. Childrens bedrooms usually need repainted every 2 to 3 years on an average.
- Hallways: The hallways and/ or corridors of your house are walked through more often than any other space. This means that you will see a lot more damage, dents, scuff marks, and other wear and tear in these areas. Have painters paint these spaces every 2 or 3 years to keep your paint looking fresh and new.
